We all know that doodling is an actual art form, especially when it’s about food and fashion. Or, you’re really bored. Or, you’re super creative. Either way, we’re in luck because a new book release focuses on a version of them called “droodles.”
Baby boomers will remember Droodles, one of the funniest fads of the 1950s. These hilarious illustrations were created by comedian Roger Price, who called them “contrived doodles that you don’t understand until you ask, and then it’ s too late to wish you hadn’t.”
For those of us way to young to remember, it will surprise you to know that at the height of their popularit fans enjoyed the Droodles TV show, a Droodles daily newspaper column, Droodles magazine features, Droodles cocktail napkins, even Droodles in ads for Lucky Strike cigarettes.
Makes you wonder what we are missing now. Fortunately, we can see it again.
