Saint Mojavi Drops Fashion Collection that Promote Chic Style and Sustainability
Saint Mojavi is a Los Angeles based ready-to-wear label focused on reducing their eco-footprint through thoughtful production practices.
Saint Mojavi was founded in 2018 by Hawai’i born designer, Teresa Pinedo. Since the start of the brand, Pinedo has been extremely passionate about reducing excess waste and made this a key component of the Saint Mojavi ethos. The brand was also recently highlighted on Forbes as one of “Four Sustainable Fashion Brands You Need To Know.”
Pinedo incorporates pre-loved fabrics into each collection — these fabrics are mainly sourced from local mom & pop shops who no longer need it. Many fabrics are re-worked into multiple Saint Mojavi collections, bringing new life to past materials in various ways.
One example is how Pinedo re-invented a colorful plaid seersucker fabric from her “La Cartagena 2020” collection into the “La Escapar 2021” collection. Fashion loves can see how she used this fabric to create a tri-color patchwork print for classic styles like the Cieza Tee and Talavera Tube Dress.
In practice, no fabric goes to waste at the Saint Mojavi atelier in Downtown Los Angeles. Extra scraps are used to create fashionable accessories like bucket hats, gloves, and even reversible face-masks. In addition, last year Saint Mojavi removed their wholesale partnerships and became entirely “Made to Order,” significantly reducing excess fabrics and packaging. Even the buttons on each piece are either sourced locally or are vintage so that nothing ends up in a landfill. Going forward the brand will also be using fully biodegradable packaging.
Saint Mojavi also has a growing list of celebrity fans, including Kendall Jenner.
