DJ Mustard, Nicki Minaj, Jeremih release epic Animated Music Video for “Don’t Hurt Me”

Nicki Minaj stays busy on the cutting edge of fashion and music, and the recent release (on Cartoon Network’s Adult Swim no less) of “Don’t Hurt Me” shows that she will stay that way for some time to come.

Created in conjunction with DJ Mustard, Jeremih, and Nicki Minaj, the video is a contrast of the supernatural relationship between predator and assumed prey, in scenarios that are bit more “sensual” than one would expect.

It’s not just playing with your food

Vice and FilmBuff To Release feature film “PRINCE”

FilmBuff in partnership with VICE Media has announced the upcoming release of PRINCE (PRINS), the feature debut from acclaimed Dutch music video director Sam de Jong.  PRINCE first debuted at the 2015 Berlinale, where it received an honorary mention for the coveted Crystal Bear for Best First Feature.  Produced by 100% Halal, PRINCE will be available in North America in theaters and all major VOD platforms starting August 14th, 2015.

PRINCE follows 17-year-old Ayoub, played by newcomer Ayoub Elasri, on his journey into manhood while vying for the love of the neighborhood beauty Laura (Sigrid ten Napel), and the respect of the local tough-guy gang. Although Ayoub dreams of getting the girl and the neighborhood crown, he has little to show for his aspirations until he meets Lamborghini-driving Kalpa, played by Dutch rapper Freddy Tratlehner, local kingpin and alleged sociopath, who turns Ayoub into the talk of the town.

PRINCE was hailed by critics’ following its debut at the 2015 Berlinale’s Generation 14Plus section.  Screen International praised, “Its stylistic brio makes PRINCE a live wire!” while The Hollywood Reporter raved that the film is “distinguished by its light tone and idiosyncratic handle on genre conventions,” and that it has a “quirky spirit that makes it easy to enjoy.”

This is the second partnership between FilmBuff and VICE Media, as the two previously worked together to release All This Mayhem in 2014. “We’re thrilled to be teaming up with VICE again and we are honored to be working with such a talented filmmaking team” says FilmBuff’’s Sam Scupp. “PRINCE is a very special film – it’s wild and hip and utterly heartfelt at its core.”

VICE’s Executive Creative Director Danny Gabai says, “PRINCE heralds the arrival of an extraordinary new voice in cinema, writer / director Sam de Jong, and we couldn’t be more excited that people are going to have the opportunity to discover him. His movie mixes teen comedy, freaky surrealism and super emotional drama in a world that feels totally natural — like its own mini-universe. He’s going to be blowing people’s minds for a long time.”

Halal Logo

“I am so proud of the film, of Sam and the team who worked so hard to make this film possible,” says Gijs Kerbosch, Producer at 100% Halal.  “Working side by side with our friends at VICE was a great experience, and we are super excited that we have joined forces with FilmBuff to release the film in North America.”

PRINCE is a very dear and personal project,” says director Sam de Jong.  “We shot the film only one mile away from where I grew up – in a very specific social environment.  For the project to cross borders and travel the world is a dream come true.  I hope U.S audiences learn something about urban Dutch life and struggles and additionally discover that we are all struggling with the same issues in the western world.”

PRINCE is produced by Gijs Kerbosch, Roel Oude Nijhuis, and Gijs Determeijer of 100% Halal and by VICE Media (Fishing Without Nets, A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night, All This Mayhem). FilmBuff will release PRINCE in theaters and across all major VOD platforms in North America.

FilmBuff LogoThe deal was negotiated by Sam Scupp of FilmBuff and Charlotte Mickie of Mongrel International on behalf of the filmmakers.

PRINCE will be available in North America August 14th, 2015, in select theaters and all major VOD platforms including Amazon Instant Video, Comcast’s Xfinity TV, Google Play, iTunes, Sony PlayStation Store, Time Warner Cable, Verizon FiOS, Vudu and Xbox Video.

Fitz And The Tantrums New Single “Handclap”

“HandClap” – the first single from Fitz and The Tantrums self-titled album, set for release on June 10 on Elektra Records – was #1 Most Added for two weeks in a row at Alternative radio and is already #15* on the Mediabase Alternative chart. It climbed into the Top 5 of Spotify’s U.S. viral chart – and within the Top 10 of the Global viral chart – in just a few short days and currently has more than 1.75 million Spotify streams. “HandClap” can be streamed HERE.
“[‘HandClap’ tops] a jittery, low down beat with spitfire verses and a surging, skyward hook,” observed Entertainment Weekly. BuzzFeed praised the “neon-hued” track, naming it one of the month’s best songs. “Fitz and The Tantrums deliver another tight groove,” said Baeble Music. “On top of a keen ability to make you bounce your feet and clap your hands, Fitz and The Tantrums have quite a knack for a catchy beat,” noted Glamour, which invited co-lead singers Fitz and Noelle to curate the month’s Listen With Us playlist.
Fans who pre-order Fitz and The Tantrums HERE will instantly receive “HandClap.” Deluxe bundles, which include a choice of the album in digital, CD or white vinyl formats paired with an exclusive t-shirt and/or slip mat, can be pre-ordered from Fitz and The Tantrums’ online store.
Fitz and The Tantrums was recorded in the band’s hometown of Los Angeles. Jesse Shatkin (Sia, Matt & Kim) produced eight of the album’s eleven tracks. Fitz produced “Fadeback” while Joel Little (Lorde) produced “Do What You Want” and Ricky Reed (Jessie J) helmed “HandClap.” It is the follow-up to 2013’s More Than Just a Dream, which has racked up over 76 million album streams to date. The album contained the Gold-certified singles “The Walker” and “Out Of My League. Both tracks topped Billboard’s Alternative Songs chart – a feat accomplished by only three other artists in the chart’s 25-year history.
The band will kick off the “Get Right Back” summer tour on June 14 at The National in Richmond, VA. The North American headline run includes a June 21 show at New York City’s Terminal 5. See below for itinerary. Tickets can be purchased HERE.

The Griswolds “Hotline Spring” tour w/ Magic Man and Panama Wedding

Fresh off a busy 2015 playing 130 shows, and celebrating the one year anniversary of their debut LP, Be Impressive, The Griswolds were busy dividing their time between their homeland Australia, Europe, Asia and their adopted home, of The United States. Having toured with the likes of Walk The Moon, The Kooks, Andrew McMahon and The Wilderness, New Politics, as well as a slew of festivals and their own sold out shows, the Aussie four-piece will be gracing American shores for the first time in 2016, announcing the “Hotline Spring Tour” with good friends, Magic Man and Panama Wedding.

Kicking off in North Carolina in early April, the tour takes the boys across the country for a one and a half month stretch, hitting the east coast, west coast, Canada, everything in between, and closing out at Hangout Fest in Alabama, mid-May.

The band’s debut and fittingly titled LP, Be Impressive was received with critical acclaim. Their infectious indie rock cemented the Sydney-based band on the scene, being awarded Rolling Stone single of the year, #4 Alternative Single from Billboard, 6 weeks at #1 on the Alt Nation Alt 18 countdown, and peaking at #13 on the Alternative Radio charts.

The band are working on new music and will be debuting brand new material as well as crowd favorites on the road.
